YPC SHAWN

Shawn and I met in 2020 and from there the endless hours of photo shoots began. At the time I wanted to get more familiar with my camera and Shawn needed content for his future as a musical artist. Sometime around 2022 was really when this project began gaining traction, I realized the power of the camera and how I could help tell his story.

Most of these photos displayed were taken between January and August of 2023.

While listening to Shawn’s music, I quickly realized the raw talent that I was dealing with. I decided I needed to commit to telling his story. Pairing gritty photos and videos with the music he was making seemed like the perfect match. Displaying the grind of an underground artist was important to this project.

As Shawn began to release his music he called upon me to begin working on cover art. For his debut single Wembanyama, I came up with a concept, using polaroids for the transitions in the music video and for the cover art. These polaroids emphasize how raw and authentic the music is. We took over 100 polaroids for the cover and music video.

His second release was planned to be a 2 song EP titled Crossroad. This cover was shot on Polaroid to stay consistent with the theme of the music videos and Wembanyama.
